The India Way Conclave is a youth-driven event being planned for early 2027, a space for young people to interact with impactful leaders, move beyond textbooks, pose bold questions, and actively debate the future of India’s global story through the lens of foreign policy, business, and culture. We’re inspired by conferences like Harvard’s India Conference and HPAIR, the St. Gallen Symposium, and more.

What the role is: The Director co-creates the vision for the Conclave alongside the Chair, shaping the ideas, themes, and curation that define the final form of the event. This means leading the organising committee on scope and creative decisions as well as on-ground execution. Directors are expected to have innovative ideas and the ability to get things done, and to have experience in organising similar large-scale conferences from scratch. Most importantly, all potential Directors must share our ethos of promoting inclusive, critical discourse.

Perks: Like all positions at the Project, this is voluntary. Directors receive a certificate of core membership and a formal recommendation letter. More than that, it is a rare chance to build something new and impactful, and to do it with people who care about India’s place in the world as much as you do.

Time: The expected commitment varies across the term; lighter in the early months (5-6 hours) and significantly heavier in the lead-up to the event. Applicants should be prepared for this to become a major commitment by early 2027 (term starts on September 1, ends in May or whenever the conclave ends).

Ryan Sengupta is a fourth-year student at Ashoka University, pursuing a BA (Hons.) in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics with a minor in International Relations.

Bhadra Vineed graduated from Miranda House in 2026 with a B.A. (Hons.) in Economics.

Aditya Pratap Singh Phogat is a rising second-year at Davidson College, North Carolina, pursuing an AB in Political Science with minors in Economics and Religious Studies.

Nayanika Karan graduated from Miranda House in 2023 with a BA (Hons.) in Geography.

Ananya Warrier is a third-year student at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, pursuing a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Economics.

Shreeya Sawhney is a second-year student at Shri Ram College of Commerce, pursuing a B.Com (Hons.).

Yug Verma is a third-year student at Ashoka University, pursuing a BA (Hons.) in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics with a concentration in International Relations.

Aarushi Bawa is a second-year MA Strategic Communication student at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication. She holds a BA (Hons.) in Political Science from Lady Shri Ram College.

As IFPP’s flagship magazine on Indian foreign policy and international relations, The India Way is committed to publishing strong, accessible voices of young Indians on the issues that shape India’s place in the world. To sustain and grow that work, we need dedicated people behind the scenes.

What the job is: We are looking for individuals with a genuine interest in foreign policy, IR, and geopolitics, and a willingness to take on the practical, unglamorous work that keeps a publication running. Editorial Interns will manage the full weekly pipeline: receiving and screening open submissions, proofreading and editing accepted articles, and publishing finalised pieces on our website. They’ll also be expected to submit their own writing for publication. Most importantly, all potential interns must share our ethos of promoting inclusive, critical discourse.

Perks: Like all other positions at the Project, this is a remote volunteer position. Interns receive a certificate of completion and are eligible for a formal recommendation letter if they do really well! It is also, we believe, a meaningful opportunity to engage seriously with argumentative writing, to develop editorial skills, and to contribute to a publication that takes India’s foreign policy discourse seriously.

Time: We are recruiting multiple interns, who will work as a team and share responsibilities on a rotating basis. The expected commitment is approximately 5-7 hours per week over a two-month term (ending August 30), starting immediately.

If you are an Indian student (who has completed at least one year in college), early-career researcher, or simply someone who cares about this space and wants to be useful in it, we would be glad to hear from you.

IFPP has received an invitation from the World Trade Organisation’s Young Trade Leaders cohort to help surface perspectives for the upcoming 14th Ministerial Conference (MC14) this March.

If you are between 18 and 28, this is a direct channel to get your perspective on trade reform and global policy in front of international decision-makers.

Submission Themes:

A short written contribution (approx. 250 words) on one of the following:

• How global trade rules and WTO processes affect young people’s opportunities and futures

• Forward-looking ideas for WTO reform, including issues under discussion at MC14

• Evidence-based reflections grounded in lived, regional, or sector-specific experience
  

Why it matters:

Selected submissions will be reviewed and compiled into a policy-oriented publication to be shared ahead of MC14, including publication on the WTO Young Trade Leaders website and potential dissemination through partner organisations.

The Project’s Founding Committee (FC) met this Monday to discuss internal reforms, the India Way Magazine, and our programs for the year as we complete #2YearsofIFPP.

• Launch of new programs and events: The India Way Conclave, the First Citizen Fellowship 2026, BRICS 2026 engagements, and the India Challenge.

• We’re also looking forward to hosting events across Delhi-NCR and various educational institutes.

• Continuing with our successful partnership with the Ashoka Society for International Affairs (ASIA) at Ashoka University, we’re planning to host our first debate this semester on campus!

• , our Founder-Chair, will be scaling his UN Millennium Fellowship project, Not Yet History, and working on ground with a larger cohort of school students across Delhi and South Asia, in our sustained efforts to educate and empower young people in the fight against disinformation and propaganda.

• Our team is also exploring educational certificate workshops with leading scholars, practitioners and experts this year, to launch towards the end of the year.

In other news, the FC has decided to shift from semesterly research projects in Spring and Monsoon to summer-exclusive projects functioning across themes in our 3 desks: The India Record, Bindu, and The China Observatory. That means we’ll open up core memberships/internships for the research and publications division only in summer, as part of our reorientation towards public capacity building programs. Meanwhile, the India Way platform will be open to publish thoughtful written content that engages with India’s global decisions, all year round.

What you'll do:
Organise and plan impactful debate and discussion events, such as the Speaker Series, the Project's fellowships, fireside chats, simulations, competitions, visits, and campaigns. This engine of IFPP aims to increase broad engagement with high schools and colleges, and partner with youth leaders and similar organisations in India.

Team Descriptions:

1. Speaker Series & Fireside Chats: Our most popular series! This team hosts youth leaders, experts, government officials and diplomats in exciting virtual discussions, debates, and interviews. We’re looking for people with prior experience in hosting IR/global affairs events, or with a background in media interviewing, podcasting, or moderated conversations. 2. Delhi Team: This team will run offline events in Delhi-NCR, from crisis simulations and war rooms to youth dialogues and debates in colleges and embassy-linked venues. Prior policy events experience or embassy-side connections are a plus.
   

3. Fellowships: IFPP’s First Citizen Fellowship will be re-launched in the summer of 2026, geared towards high school students to introduce them to critical thinking, IR & foreign policy. Take a look at the program here. The team is preferably based in Delhi-NCR, with prior experience in virtual programs or connections with Delhi schools.

Every year, India faces new challenges. With 2025 revealing the shaky foundations of global order and regional instability, our work at the Indian Foreign Policy Project is more crucial than ever. India needs informed citizens ready to engage thoughtfully with complex global challenges. That means investing in media literacy, capacity building, and education for young Indians.

As 2025 comes to an end, we look back at the incredible tangible impact we created in our communities. Here is just a short selection of them across last year.

• Our India Way Magazine launched its inaugural spring edition under Co-Editors-in-Chief Muskaan Mir and Manini Agarwal, with nine thought-provoking essays from young people writing on South Asia’s escalating violence post-Pahalgam. The platform had over 64,000 readers this year, and 16K readers in December alone.

• An IFPP project was awarded the Millennium Fellowship 2025 by the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and Millennium Campus Network (MCN) for its dedicated impact on regional peacebuilding. It connected underserved school students in India, Nepal, and Bangladesh through virtual exchanges and expert modules designed to build bridges and connections across borders while tackling propaganda and misinformation.

• Medhya Gupta and Neeraj BR led IFPP’s Speaker Series to add Former Singaporean Foreign Minister Dr George Yeo, Amb Shyam Saran, Amb. Rahul Chhabra and Vice Admiral Pradeep Chauhan, among others, to our growing list of influential guests.

• In March, we hosted our first on-ground event at Ashoka University, partnering with the Ashoka Society for International Affairs (ASIA) to host awarded journalist Nayanima Basu, where she discussed her experiences reporting in the final days of the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul in 2021 and writing her book, ‘Dispatches from Chaos’.

• Our members attended multiple invite-only events in Delhi-NCR, including at the British Council, Raisina Dialogue, and Council for Strategic and Defense Research (CSDR).

• Since January, our community of students, academics, and diplomats has grown to over 7000 across platforms, and we continue to share invites, opportunities, and networking events that help create awareness, scholarship and capacity-building.

• Our flagship virtual program for high school students, the First Citizen Fellowship, was launched in the summer. Designed specifically for emerging leaders from South Asia, this fellowship aims to foster thoughtful, ethical, and informed global citizens rooted in media literacy, ethical reasoning, and global citizenship.

• Our virtual debates on India’s core foreign policy issues were engaged by over 1.5K people over the year. You can watch our public recordings on YouTube.

• The Research & Publications Division, led by Kiran C. and Abhinav S. Nambeesan, was reshaped into 3 research desks: The China Observatory focusing on India-China issues, the India Record focusing on historical Indian foreign policy, and Bindu, the South Asia desk, focusing on human rights, trade, and peace.

• In the spirit of inclusive foreign policy discourse, we expanded core memberships to more than 25 colleges and universities spread across India, the UK, and Brazil.

Again, this is just a short list of all the work we’ve done this year. Powerful independent efforts for active dialogue change lives every day by making space for pragmatic ideas. If you can, please support our work today and help make that change happen.

It is, somehow, nearly 2026. Looking back twelve months, few of us could have predicted the speed at which the global order would be reshaped or how deeply conflict would be felt in South Asia.

The challenges India faces—constrained global alliances, rising hatred against the diaspora, and volatility in the region— are immense. We are living in a world without order and with multilateral institutions showing clear signs of collapse. In this environment, it’s important to empower young people to lead and help them imagine alternate futures that are pragmatic, empathetic, and serve our people.

That’s why hearing from the IFPP community and people like you is a regular reminder of why our work matters. Whether it is our commitment to youth-led dialogue on India’s foreign policy, resilience in the face of rising misinformation, or a simple desire for critical education, your engagement is what keeps us moving forward.

As we look back at our impact from 2025, I wanted to share why so many of you chose to back us this year:

• Seeking Reliability: In an era of targeted misinformation, hypernationalism and jingoism, many of you saw IFPP as a trustworthy space that promotes debate and bold questions.

That belief became the Indian Foreign Policy Project (IFPP), now a youth-led community that brings together thousands of students from across India and South Asia. Our goal is simple: to foster debate, discussion, and thoughtful dialogue among young Indians at a time when global events are increasingly complex.
